Providing Opportunity for Young Women and a Pipeline to Careers in Technology

Employed in corporate America with an extensive career in sales and marketing for high-tech companies and global brands, I experienced the lack of female leadership development in the field. As a result, became CoFounder of the Women’s Hackathon at CSUSM to empower more young women in computer science – providing opportunity for young women and a pipeline to careers in technology.

Diversity in Tech & Leadership – My Passion

  • Co Founder & Mentor of the International Women’s Hackathon, Cal State San Marcos, originally sponsored by Microsoft Research, my goal is to empower young women leaders in computer science. The event is open to all female high school and college students. Teams of 4 – 6 girls will make a website, game, cloud based service, application, or mobile app to address one of the two civic challenges. Cal State San Marcos has successfully hosted (6) 12-hour Women’s Hackathons in 2014-2016 all of which attracted over 60 students each from across San Diego County and southern California. We are committed to making the Women’s Hackathon a semi-annual event for SoCal young women. Next events are scheduled for April and October 2017. Learn more…
